When will it end?

They say that all actions have consequences, and indeed they do. It’s been years that a circle of violence producing more violence has been affecting the way people behave. Years? I should say centuries. Why doesn’t it seem logical to most people that if we hate, we will be hated back? It’s just human nature, isn’t it? Forget about the other cheek: take back what you suffered, revenge! Isn’t that the way we are thinking? Wouldn’t a lot of people in London right now be considering “how to retaliate”? I don’t even know how or when all of this got started, but at some point someone got upset with somebody else, and hundreeds of years later we are in the middle of a war. Because we are. Don’t fool yourself thinking that since there are no massive troops advancing over some territory, or because we don’t see any air fights, we are not.

Yesterday I said to someone: “Let’s just hope that for once those who make decisions realize that violence produces more violence”, but I was wrong. It’s not only those who make decisions that got it all wrong, but also common people. When you hear: “those damn chinese”, or “crappy chileans”, or “goddamn americans”, or whatever, where would you say that hate, dressed up as a random statement, comes from? What if that person had the ability to make decisions that could influence the course of life?

I may have gotten a little deep today, but I felt it was time to do so. Someone has to. Somebody should just stop and shout: “Think, people, Think!” It doesn’t make sense to be a racist, no matter where you come from or what history you lived. Because trust me, if this doesn’t stop soon enough, it will be too late when we realize that it should be stopped. Let’s just hope that those days never come.
