So I went to see Spielberg’s latest production last week, and I have to say I’m a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong: special effects where great (those that seem real and are not so evidently CGI), and the movie started in a really good way. But for some reason (I put my money on out of budget) the movie seems to fall down in the last 10 minutes, almost as if they just had to finish it, no matter how laim it could seem.
Naturally, I won’t start telling you the story, but trust me, if you go see it you’ll see how everything seems to settle a little bit too fast. I wish they could’ve put a little bit of more efforts to let the movie solve itself, rather than forcing it.
Tom Cruise was OK in his performance, so the rest of the cast. No major acting abilities, since most of the movie evolves around the story, and some special effects. Also, the story is pretty faithful to H.G. Wells’ ‘War Of The Worlds’, so there are no complains here.

I agree. The movie is great until the last 10 minutes. I don’t know if the end of the movie is the same as the book since I have not read the book, but like Mariano says, it looks they ran out of budget or something like that. So it goes from a 10 to -50 in a 5 minute period.
I am not a fan of effects, but I have to admit the ones featured in the movie were really really good.
I cannot help to think however, that there is too much Scientology stuff involved.
